No. German engines — especially turbocharged ones — require plugs with a specific heat range, electrode gap, and material (copper, iridium, or platinum). Installing the wrong plug can cause pre-ignition on high-compression engines, accelerated coil wear, and misfires. We use OEM or OEM-equivalent plugs from Bosch, NGK, or the OEM supplier for every engine we service.

It depends on mileage and condition. If one coil has failed on a high-mileage car, the others are likely close behind and we recommend replacing all of them while the labor is minimal. On a lower-mileage car where one coil failed early, replacing just the failed unit is reasonable. We test each coil individually and give you an honest recommendation.
